I collected research on the design choices of existing bubble tea companies and current trends in the bubble tea industry. I found that many brands use bright and pastel colours and some have cute animal mascots such as a koala bear or panda. From prior knowledge and visual research I discovered that cats are commonly associated with bubble tea as there are many products on the market such as plushies and stickers that have illustrations of a kawaii cat drinking boba. This is commonly seen in Japan as cats as the Japanese culture adores cats often depicting them in art, literature, and media. With most bubble tea consumers being between the age of 18 and 30 Millenials and Gen Z are the targeted audience for bubble tea brands.

RESEARCH

The colour palette of brown, cream, orange, grey, and black allow. To optimise annual revenue and encourage brand loyalty the brands visual identity was created so that it can be personalised for individual consumers. The logo is adaptable and can become almost any cat breed, colour, and pattern. Consumers would be more inclined to purchase something if it has an illustration resembling their beloved cat. Expanding the inventory of the shop to include merchandise such as customisable stickers, t-shirts, and more will encourage consumers to purchase more than bubble tea as the personalisation of the brand lends people to feel excitement and joy. By incorporating both English and Japanese in the branding identity such as the menu, it creates a wider audience amongst Millennials and Gen Z, with aims to appeal to Japanese immigrants in the UK.

BRAND STRATEGY

For the branding identity I wanted to use a cat as the branding mascot to be in keeping with the cute with the trend of cute animal mascots. To stand out the from the competition I made the brand colours realistic colours of cats as opposed to the pastels often seen. This allows the logo to change into different cat breeds, colours, and patterns while still maintaining consistency. Crazy Cat then started forming stemming from the slogan Go Catnip Crazy for Crazy Cat. The placement of the uppercase A’s in the name resemble cat ears when connected resulting in the logo being a bubble tea lid transformed into a cats head.
